Lets Hike Harvey Mountain

Harvey Mountain is one of the highest points in Columbia County. Near the summit is a large field filled with blueberries. This picnic spot, complete with a table, provides nice views of the Taconics to the South and Catskills to the Southwest.

You will be traveling on a combination of old roads and foot paths which wind through a mostly hard-wood forest. Be sure to watch out for the trail markers.

The trail starts opposite of camp site #1 near the parking area. It is marked with blue disks. After 0.3 miles, you reach a junction. Turn right on the red trail which leads 1.2 miles to the picnic area.

The actual summit is past the picnic spot in the woods. There is a concrete marker at the boundary between MA and NY.

________________________________________
Trailhead: Take NY Rte 90 East to Exit B3. Continue on NY Rte 22 South for 3 miles.
Turn left onto East Hill Rd. The parking area is on the right after 0.4 miles. (Lat:42.326 Lon:-73.44)

My car will be parked in the parking area (blue/grey Jeep patriot)

B2 is the exit for The Taconic
Staying on Rt 90 and taking exit B3 is more direct
    Hope that helps

updated directions ... coming East on Rt 90 stay on 90 until exit B3 and follow signs to rte 22 south. after approx 3 miles you will see a sign on the right for MILLAY COLONY just after this sign the next LEFT is East Hill Rd. Parking area and trailhead is less than 1/2 mile on the right. Look for my car SILVER SUBARU OUTBACK. My cell #[masked]

If you choose to take exit B2 off Rt 90, take the Taconic parkway south to the route 203 exit. Take Rt 203 east through Spencertown towards Austerlitz. Take Rt 22 north roughly 3 miles and East Hill Rd will be on your right. Follow that for 1/2 mile to parking area and trailhead.

Two weeks ago the blueberries were just starting to be ready to harvest. Let's hope we get to pick some tomorrow!
    See you at 10!

If Clifton Park area folks are interested in car pooling, we can meet at the exit 9 park and ride around 8:45.

Susie and I are looking forward to this hike. Hoping for good weather, of course. According to other web reviews, this route has narrow trails with LOTS OF POISON IVY. Long pants are highly recommended!
