Full Moon Hike or Snowshoe at Lindenwald

Let's get out and enjoy the light of the full moon on snowshoes at the Martin Van Buren Nature Trails in Kinderhook, NY.  If no snow, we will hike the trails.

The Martin Van Buren Nature Trails and Park, managed by the Friends of Lindenwald, is located across the road and approximately 200 yards north of the Martin Van Buren National Historic Site, the estate and farm of Martin Van Buren, 8th President of the United States.   (1013 Old Post Rd Kinderhook, NY 12106)

The Friends of Lindenwald, a volunteer-based non-profit organization, is responsible for the maintenance of the site’s seventy (70) acres and approximately two (2) miles of trails.  The trail network is comprised of four (4) basic trail loops that widen and narrow, traversing stands of white pine, maple, elm and birch and is used by hikers in the summer and cross country skiers and snowshoers in the winter.  The trailhead is a gravel parking lot with an open-sided pavilion shelter, picnic tables, benches and maps. 

Minimum age is 8 (8-15 yrs must have a participating adult with them, 16-17 yrs must have a parent/guardian sign participant agreement but do not need to attend)

Directions from the North:

From I-90 take exit 12  Follow rte 9 south 4.5 miles to traffic circle.  Enter circle and exit Route 9H South.  After 4 miles trail head will be on your left.

Minimum age is 8 (8-15 yrs must have a participating adult with them, 16-17 yrs must have a parent/guardian sign participant agreement but do not need to attend)

•please be dressed for the weather, we will go snow, rain or shine 

•Dress in layers 

•wear appropriate hiking / snowshoeing footwear and bring hiking poles 

• snowshoes if we have enough snow or microspikes for ice or a light coating of snow.

•please bring water, snacks and any personal medicines you may need as well as headlamps, rain gear, day pack. 

•camera and/or binoculars if you have them

Dogs are not permitted at any of this group's outings.

    How late do you work Esther? I live in Colonie..is this the Fuller Road off Central Avenue? I am relatively new to this area and not really familiar with roads etc. around here. I would really enjoy carpooling as this is what we do in the AMC hiking club and of course, I would chip in towards gas. Thanks.
