The HMF trail is a 4.2 mile trail consisting of the lower loop and the upper loop, which begins at the Rosenberg Center.

The trail forms a figure eight with a lower loop of about 1.5 miles.  The northern leg of the trail is on the old carriage road, while the southern leg parallels an old farm road and has a fairly steep section just west of the Moon Barn.  The upper loop of 2.7 miles across rolling terrain.  The entire hike should last about 3 hours.

I hiked a section of the trail today. It is very icy in spots and in one place mud... the recent rain then freeze has made the trail hard packed. Microspikes or trail crampons are a must, as we will be going up and down some hills. If you do not have them, snowshoes will work. Be prepared for the colder temperatures. Dress in layers.
