Basic Map and Compass Navigation

Even in this high tech GPS era, nothing can replace the value of a compass and paper map. L.L.Bean’s founder, Leon Leonwood Bean, once said, "If you get lost, just go straight back to camp." If only it were that easy. How do I use a compass? Let’s find out.

Not sure if you're prepared for the outdoors? Visit L.L.Bean at Ross Park Mall and ask to speak with an Outdoor Product Specialist. L.L.Bean will fit you with the right clothing and gear.

Thanks again for a great class. I've learned how to find my current position on a map using triangulation, switch between grid and magnetic north, and plan a route on a map. I attended map and compass navigation course held by Western Pennslyvania Orienteering Club (WPOC) early this year which focused on use of compass and pace counts, and this course was a great complement to that.

Is this the second part in the three part compass series or a repeat to the first?
