Join L.L.Bean, Pittsburgh Trails Advocacy Group (PTAG) and Friends of North Park (FoNP) as we venture into the fall landscape of beautiful North Park. Two levels of hikes are available to choose from on this day. Both will start and finish at the Olympia Shelter located across from the Ice Rink on Pearce Mill Road.
Easy Hike: A hike approximately 3 miles exploring Latodami Nature Center areas. Wahdo:Gwas Wetlands, Braille Trail, Meadow Trail, Marshall Lake Trail…
Moderate Hike: This hike will be along the PTAG managed shared-use trails of the North Ridge. The journey begins on the blazed “Red/Blue Dot” trail and returns on the blazed “Red” trail. This hike will vary in distance depending on the group. It could range between 5 to 7 miles.
Dog-friendly: Domestic animals are permitted only when on a leash, except in designated Off-Leash Dog Areas.
Easy: Short distances at a slow pace; relatively flat terrain, well defined trails, may involve some hills; No prior activity experience is necessary; Perfect start for beginners; Not too physically challenging.
Moderate: Varying distances at a steady pace; varying terrain, generally established trails; Some prior experience in the activity is required; Only for those in good physical condition; Physically challenging.
This was a great hike and I enjoyed the stories told by Keith. Hope to do it again soon.

This was my first hike and I really enjoyed it. Everyone was very nice and Snakeguy was a great leader. I plan on attending more hikes. I'm going to look into the Full Moon Hike. I think that its in December

Wonderful, not just because it was a beautiful day but also because of the company! The route was excellent both a little challenging and in length.

Thanks, Snakeguy! However, my GPS is a little out of date and those coordinates don't work. How far is the Olympia Shelter from the North park Grant Shelter (near an I C Stand), which is where I met w/PALs for the Last Wednesday Night Hike? I imagine it is pretty close? Sorry, for not being a little more familiar with North Park. If U can, please give me your cell just in case. My # is, [masked]. Thanx, Randy

Hi Gang, I am "new" to this Group as this will be my first official outing with you. And, I am very excited and looking forward to this event! I have some experience at hiking and I am working myself back in to this healthy, fun activity from a couple of years ago. I try to get out and do at least one hike, big walk, etc. a week. See you at 1 pm, Sunday.
Also, doe anyone have a specific address for my GPS for the exact location of Olympia Shelter? Much appreciated!!! I have somewhat of an idea from the enclosed map. Thank you, Randy :)

Spent a week hiking in Colorado high country in September with my wife. Really enjoy a good hike. Also, have been using trekking poles to safeguard a tender knee. Works out well for me, and increases my speed and distance.
