We are a friendly group of people interested in Buddhist meditation and teachings that have been meeting since 2010 topracticemeditation together. We have a few experienced meditators who host our meet ups and teach calm abiding or shamata meditation.
Each class gives an introduction to Buddhist calm-abiding meditation to develop a clear and peaceful state of mind.The technique is simple and very good for both beginners and those with some previous experience of meditation.
Through this practice we develop awareness of our thoughts, develop a calmness and concentration, creating a relaxed and aware state of mind.
The meditation is common to all the Buddhist schools but our transmission is from the Sakya School of Tibetan Buddhism, a traditional lineage of Buddhist teachings founded in Tibet in the 11th Century.
