Ted Dunning/MAPR - New Architectural Possibilities for Hadoop

There are a number of assumptions that come with using standard Hadoop that are based on Hadoop's initial architecture.  Many of these assumptions can be relaxed with more advanced architectures such as those provided by MapR.  An important cluster of these assumptions are essentially work-arounds for the limitations of HDFS.  By augmenting HDFS-compatible access with access to files across multiple clusters using standard protocols like NFS, MapR makes many of these work-arounds unnecessary.  I will describe the underlying architecture that MapR uses to enable these advances and show how this can simplify systems or, in some cases, make certain classes of programs run orders of magnitude faster.   For more information, visit

DataMeer Demo

Datameer offers the first data analytics solution built on Apache Hadoop that helps business users access, analyze and use massive amounts of data. Founded by Hadoop veterans in 2009, Datameer provides unparalleled access to data with minimal IT resources. Datameer can scale to 4,000 servers and petabytes of data, while also delivering low TCO. For more information, see

WibiData Demo

WibiData is a system specifically designed for large-scale user-centric analysis. WibiData extends HBase's data model and introduces features for schema management, evolution and discoverability, targeted specifically at user-centric data. WibiData also offers a novel calculus of operators (called "produce" and "gather") that operate over data sets; these operators may be executed within the MapReduce framework, but also can be run in other contexts, such as online serving of recommendations computed in real time. This talk will introduce the WibiData data model and execution framework, explain how it differs from what is available in Hadoop, and describes some example analyses that WibiData can perform. See
