LA iPhone/iPad Developer Special Ops Advanced Class April 24-25

This location is shown only to members

iPhone/iPad Special Ops is an intense 2-day class (from 10am-6pm) that starts where Basic Training leaves off.

Students will learn advanced iPhone development techniques and get training in how to build applications for the new Apple iPad.

You will learn how to build iPhone and iPad versions of your applications from a single project. Bring your iPhone code and get assistance porting to the iPad. Classes are small and involve hands-on individual and group exercises under the supervision of the one of the most knowledgeable iPhone devs on the planet.

REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN!

EARLY-BIRD DISCOUNT PRICE IS $700 for the 2-day class, if you register by 4/10.
STANDARD PRICE IS $950 thereafter.

Because the actual class registration is handled separately, simply RSVP'ing on the Meetup page will *NOT* reserve a seat in the class.

To actually sign up for the class, please
>>> REGISTER AT THE EVENTBRITE site <<<.

Hope to see you there!

For those asking, we were planning a Basic Training class in the end of May. If there is enough interest, I could come out early and do a Basic Training immediately before this class. I'd need at least 6-8 students, so if you are interested, let me know...

I know absolutely no objective C or Coco, would a basic class teach me either of these languages?

    @ Jeff
Cocoa Touch is what you?ll be learning in the class -- so nothing?s assumed there.

Objective-C, on the other hand, is the language that much of that is based on ... So even though we?d be doing a little review at the outset, you?ll still be much better off if you already have some familiarity with Obj-C.

Since you still have time before any Basic class, I?d suggest picking up a good book (or reading up on the web, etc.). I happen to like the Apress books. ...

[It?s unclear from your comment whether you?re familiar with other programming languages. If not, you?d ideally want to glean a passing familiarity with C as well.] The more you know about the underpinnings, the more you?ll get out of the class in learning Cocoa Touch & the iPhone SDK itself.

And if it helps, for a broad, qualitative overview of the whole iPhone programming realm, feel free to watch my Macworld session as well at http://paradeofprogress.com/macworld/ ]

Sounds good Ron, Thanks for the impute. Im trying to enroll in a Object C class so hopefully that will give me the primer necessary to get as much as possible out of this meetup. Also to answer your question i have no previous knowledge of any programing language, im a complete n00b.

Good deal, Jeff. It's a *tiny* bit like taking a class in, say, French literature, but without knowing the language first. You'd certainly learn some cool stuff, don't get me wrong -- but it'd mean more (and ultimately, you'd retain more) if you've already gotten past that initial stage.

Can everyone interested in a Basic Training class before this class please post here or email me so we can get a count and possibly schedule a class. We would probably do it immediately before the advanced class - would that work?

Hey, Jon! Good to hear from you. Will be great to have you onboard. Lots of excitement, obviously, in the iPad world, so it'll be great.
