Ok well after the screw up with the first meetup (game not televised) - and the nightmare game last weekend in Seattle - I figure we're due for something good.
The game in Seattle couldn't have gone much worse. Granted, the final score doesn't really matter - but just because the game is a scrimmage doesn't mean injuries don't count. On the plus side - we really dodged a couple of bullets. At first it looked like Wolfe might have a serious neck injury. Now it appears he should be ready to go by week 1 of the regular season. Ditto Welker and Vasquez (back by week 1). Champ Bailey is injured as well and looks to miss a couple of weeks - but fortunately CB is one of our deeper positions.
Von Miller looks to be suspended up to 6 games - but hey even if that's the case think of it this way: we play in the AFC West so the playoffs should be easy(ish) to reach...and he'll be healthy for the final 2/3 of the season (you never know if he would have been injured in one of those games he's probably going to miss). I know...silver lining.
Anyway, next up - the Rams in Denver. This should be more of a tune-up game for us. The starters will play a good portion of the game (so more fun for the fans) and we're not playing one of the premier teams in the league. That means we'll actually get to treat it like a scrimmage (instead of the Superbowl the Seahawks thought they were playing in). Plus...the Broncos seem to get shellacked at least once a season. Who knows? Maybe we'll get lucky and our only blowout loss will be last week in a meaningless game.
Hope to see a bunch of you Saturday night! And yes...I checked and the game is actually televised.
