Paddle on 14 Mile Creek

This is a fairly easy paddle on 14 Mile Creek from Charlestown St Park. We'll meet at the boat ramp and paddle about 1 mile up the Ohio, then up into 14 Mile Creek. The creek is fairly remote and usually has quite a bit of wildlife. All of the water is flat and suitable for beginners. There is a $7 per car fee to get into Charlestown St Park, $5 for Indiana residents.

The river looks fine for paddling today, so shouldn't be any issues tomorrow.

Greg, how hard is that paddling a mile upstream? I've never been on the river before.

Usually not a big deal. I'll check the current out before hand and call it off if it's too fast or if there's large debris. But I expect it to be fine.

p.s. Is there a LACK class soon? Wanting to 'renew' my kayak & canoe experiences. Really missing the water since selling my boat!

Ah, a beautiful paddle on the Sunnyside. CSP is a treasure. Would love to join you another time. I'll be enjoying some sun, sand & surf on Sat.

Sounds great. It is a nice little paddle. But, I live almost directly across the river in Kentucky. Yet, I am unaware of a place to put in around there. The drive is 35-40 miles around!

    Any suggestions?

New to kayaking. Remember when going through Flat Water Training something was said about registering/stickers for our kayaks. Will we need for this trip?

You don't need stickers to paddle any streams. The stickers are only for DNR managed lakes.

With a 1.4 mph current on the upper, and the curve, should be a good hard push to reach the creek. Good luck, I'll be on duty.
