Safety Boaters Needed

This year, the Ohio River Open Water Swim is Saturday, August 10, 2013
starting with a safety meeting at 8:15am and running until about noon.
The swim is in the Ohio River off the Cardinal Harbour Boat Dock in
Prospect, KY (Oldham County across from 14 mile creek.)
(http://ohioriverswim.... for more information.)

We would like to have about 10 – 20 kayakers in the water to assist
swimmer. I would appreciate your help in publicizing this need. Pizza will be available after the
race. We would be happy to pay back the favor in any way possible. In
the past, we help man the Ironman Aid station; however, I’m not sure if
you still have one.

I appreciate your assistance in the past. If you have any other
suggestions on how to get kayakers, or any other aspect of the race,
please let me know.

Thank you in advance for your help this year.

Like the shirt graphics. Enjoyed the cloud cover on the river all morning.

Great day for being on the water. Our hosts were very appreciative and hospitable. Another free T-shirt! Again, no X-large :-(

I hope that a few more folks can step up and help. Don't know if any of the Viking Canoe Club are going to be there.

I have / get to work Sat.

    Received this from Randy Scherer:

This is just a reminder that the Ohio River Open Water Swim is this
Saturday. We could use lots of kayakers to help with safety. The safety
meeting is at 8:15am. Pizza, coffee, and t-shirts will be provided for all
volunteers. MapQuest 2020 Cardinal Harbour Road, Prospect, KY 40059 for
    direction or go to: http://ohioriverswim.weebly.com/race-location.html.

Hope that clears things up a little. :)

Had a pretty good paddle one year after the event. 14 mile creek is more or less just across the Ohio from that location. Went over there and played around a bit.

Also-Cardinal Harbor is out Rose Island Rd-not Peewee Valley

will the swimmers be crossing the river?

They didn't do so last year.

I paddled for this last year, and would do so again, except for one tiny issue that I hope one or another of you can help me resolve: Since then, I've sold the one gas-powered vehicle that was good enough at hauling my kayak (I'm the nut who is sometimes seen hauling his kayak by bicycle trailer). I don't mind the ride to the Rowing Center, nor that the ride home is up hill a good portion of the way. I don't mind riding a bicycle out Rose Island Road, nor on any road that helps me get there or back.

I don't eagerly anticipate the combination, however.

If I can get a ride for my boat and my person, I'd be happy to help.

I think the Pewee Valley part is a typo - for GPS ad map purposes.
