Let me know if you have any questions, and I have a feeling a few amazing boaters did not get t-shirts last year so let me know who you are.

    ...and this is great!

Todd/Turbo has received recognition from AW...American Whitewater for his work with Ironman and the Vikings and our help too.
    This is fine work.
I look forward to the next one.

    Congrats Todd!

Thanks to all !! If you did not get my meetup post today don't forget the volunteer thank you dinner is tonight at the Convention center at 6:30 !! Beyond awesome minus the boat alignment , but in my opinion a few extra meters for the swimmers to cover is not so bad > They can always claim it was a[masked] mile race for them instead of a plain ole 140.6 :) Can't begin to express how happy IM course director was with our effort ! Beth stepped out of her unbelievably busy day to find me under the dash of the impaired pontoon boat and thank us for the above and beyond effort this year . There are going to be glitches every year but ask Ironman staff who travel the world putting this race on who has the best water coverage and one city is paramount, Louisville. Oh yeah and that goes for land based volunteers as well . Hug and kiss yourselves on that note and I hope to SYOTR in 363/4 days if not sooner !!

It only gets better until 0000hrs, when the cut off for the whole thing is.

That's when the folks that have made it all through the day....working with nothing but Will alone...will make it or not.

This is an amazing and wonderful gig.

Once again it was good to see so many kayakers helping with the safety boat event. I love how our community steps up when needed. A little more training with how to keep swimmers on course is needed. Still had big gaps and kayakers waaay back from the swimmers instead of close to the course to help guide them around the buoys... just my $0.02.

One of these years, I'll help with the kayak. We participate in the bike route out off BallardSchool road, because we know what our road is like. Look for the messages in sidewalk chalk and "more cow bell"!

If anyone's interested, there's gonna be a Quest Demo Day on Friday!

    August 20, 2013

  • Nancy C.

Can't do Saturday, but will be there on Sunday.

    August 19, 2013

  • Mr T.

Yes Jim that is correct . The Ironman Foundation gives generously to 501c3 organizations for many of the Volunteer groups . To my knowledge we have raised over $6000 for AW since 2007 when this event began. The athletes appreciate the support, and the race won't take place without us! Each phase of the event is monumental for the average human, doing all three within 17 hours is amazing. The only difference with the swim is that taking a break can be tricky business compared to the asphalt . That's where we come in.

Almost forgot - training night is Thurs Aug 22nd at the Community Boathouse\ Rowing Club 6:30 Pm . Bring your boat / board and we will enjoy some fall boating with our safety review

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
