I am off Thursday to Sunday 21-24 of Oct. Looks like fall colors should be rocking! For those of you who have not made the short trip to this lake, I can only describe it as perfect! It has 10-12 foot visibility in the water, and a soft blue color. Not that mud we are all used to seeing on th Ohio. There are hills and cliffs all around this gigantic lake, and its like paddling in the mountains. We will put in and be camping in my special spot. Its about as nice a camping can get. Combine this with fall colors, and amazing water! You can come late, sat and Sunday, or come with me Thursday night. I am flexible, and have some extra gear for a couple of people. If you have questions, please email me at or just call
This trip is not really a good trip if your super new to this. As well, if you plan on arriving at night or near dark, you are in for some serious navigational challenges of finding a campsite on dark water. I will post a map for everyone and cell phones are hit or miss on the lake. I know verizon and sprint have coverage some. For a fact att doesn't work there at all. I will send out an email with maps dirictions, gps position of the site, cell numbers and radio freq to reach me. Link to our permit link to a map of sites we are in 20 B
The ramp to put in is located at N[masked] W85 17 04.1
The camp is located at or about N[masked] W85 16 53.0 Camp is right next to the waters edge. It will be easy to locate once you are around the island.
Important I am not an expert in wilderness survival, safety, or navigation. I have no medical training of any kind and am not able to render any assistance beyond what one person with no training can do to help another in any given crisis situation. By posting my hikes on this site I am informing you, my equally untrained and inexperienced self responsible adult colleagues that I will be participating in a certain activity, at a predefined time/place. If you choose to join me on these events be advised that I am trained to offer you nothing more than my company. if you are coming be self sufficient. We are not near the ramp, and will not be able to offer any aid to unload and paddle if you come late. Furthermore I plan to do some paddling while there, no plans to be in camp all day. If you come and find camp is void of life, most likely I/group is off paddling.
