Harrods Creek after work paddle

Paddle at Harrods Creek, we'll launch from the Harrods Creek Boat Harbor just behind Captains Quarters.  This paddle does not have an event hosts, so you should plan to arrive and self organize as to where to paddle.  Usually we paddle up the creek a few miles to the Great Blue Heron rookery, but paddling the Ohio River is also an option.

There is a fee to launch at Harrods Creek Boat Harbor which is $5 per kayak.  Yearly memberships are also available, see their website for more info.

I am new as new can be...and just got my first kayak. I may try to make this if I can get off work early enough to get there. Is this a "rookie" friendly paddle?

It's as about a rookie friendly paddle as you can get.

Going to bail on this one, due to weather AND work load.

I'm not going this time. The Harrods Creek at Hwy 329 says it is 1220 cu ft/second.

That gauge doesn't mean anything for the section section we do. Harrods Creek will be still flatwater from the Ohio all the way back to the Blue Heron rookery. The gauge recommendations are for people wanting to do whitewater above that section (putting in at the 329 bridge).

But, it will be cold and rainy.

Just to remind everyone, there is no official go/no go call for this event, it's up to you to decide for yourself. The weather for 6pm is supposed to be 58deg with a chance of rain.

Think I could paddle board or will the water be too rough?

They worked fast and got it back in shape, so I stand corrected. I have my own special launch spot anyway. Any time someone want to try SUP, I can bring an extra board and PFD, etc.

That launch site is off limits now as it is totally destroyed by high waters....at least this was the status a couple of days ago.
