Re: [Louisville-Area-Canoe-Kayak-Group] New Meetup: Floyds Fork 5/23/2009

I won't make this trip, but do plan on the May 30 at Blue River.  Does anyone have a canoe they want to sell?
I'm contemplating getting one of my own so as not to have to always ask for a seat in someone else's for these trips.

Announcing a new Meetup for Louisville Area Canoe & Kayak Group!

What: Floyds Fork 5/23/2009

When: May 23,[masked]:15 AM

Where: Click the link below to find out!

Meetup Description: This is another opportunity to paddle Floyds Fork before it dries up for the year. Brian and I did this paddle last Saturday, and we had to cancel it the week before due to the fast current. There's no rain in the forecast, and the level is already below where it was when we did the paddle this past Saturday, so it looks like we're in the clear. If anything, we might not have enough water in the river to paddle it. We'll try to post visual observations Thursday or Friday. Check the comments here and in the forum to stay up to date.

I'll be at the put-in at William F. Miles Park at 9:15a Saturday rain, shine, or dry riverbed. We can work out the details of the shuttle then. We will take-out at the Fisherville canoe access site. It took Brian and I about 3 1/2 hours without much actual paddling, and with a few breaks.

More information about the paddle and the park can be found here:

Watch the USGS water gauges on the river to stay up to date on whether the river is safe. If the Fisherville gauge is above 200cfs, it's a no-go:,00060

Watch the weather radar for rain or thunderstorms:

Some members have extra kayaks to loan out. If you can make the paddle and want to borrow a boat, go ahead and RSVP yes, and state you need to borrow one, and we'll try to find one for you.
