In addition to the message board posting from Doug Davis, I wanted to also send out a notice that he has extended an invitation to a private party on April 9th to celebrate the opening of River City Canoe & Kayak. I've included the original message below.
We would like to invite all of our friends and fellow club members to the Grand Opening party of River City Canoe & Kayak!
Time: 5:30-8pm (with ribbon cutting my Councilman Tom Owen and Jerry Abrams at 6pm) Date: Friday April 9th Where: 814 Cherokee Road, with parking along road or in rear.
This is the kick off party to celebrate the opening of the shop, all the hard work Jessa and I and our new staff have put into the place, all the hard work of the people who have supported on us along this journey, and talk about what the future holds for us and paddle sports here in Louisville. We will be providing food and beverages (including kegs from BBC), free schwag, and music. Registers will not be open. This is a private party for friends and family to relax and have fun together, not a sales event.
The invite is extended to all the members of LACK, their family and or significant others. I hope to see everyone from the LACK there!
Meet other local Paddlers to plan trips and meetups, talk about local rivers, creeks, and kayak gear.
We are mostly beginner and intermediate paddlers, but all levels and ages welcome!
Trips we have gone on so far have been leisurely paddles on calm waters exploring lakes, creeks and slow moving rivers.
There is no membership fee, nor is there a charge to attend events. Donations are welcome, but never expected.
If you do not own a boat, we do have members kind enough to loan out kayaks on occasion. The best thing to do is just ask around or keep an eye out for anyone offering up a boat for use.
Although we are based in Louisville, we welcome members from all nearby locations, including a loyal following of active members from Southern Indiana.
Also - we will occasionally schedule informal, social meetups to get to know each other better, ask questions and gather ideas for future trips. Everyone is, of course, welcome (and encouraged) to attend.
