Cantabile (an easy intermediate string ensemble class)

In this weekly class, we work on ensemble and reading skills with a strong focus on rhythm.

There is a $20 tuition fee for each class.  You can pay for a month in advance or just pay by the class.  Please make checks out to Barbara Don (I do not accept credit cards).

Class materials can be purchased at the Metzler Violin Shop with your 10% LACMP discount. The violin shop accepts credit cards.

We are currently working on:

Harmonized Rhythms for String Orchestra by Forque and Thornton $5.95

Progressive Trios by Doris Gazda $9.95

Weddings for Two, arranged by Lynn Latham $12.95 for each part

Excellent, good to play with everyone and there's always something new to learn. Welcome to the new guy, Mark. Hope to see you next week?

Hi, Daniel. You can come to the class and just listen (no charge for that) or you can stop by the shop and I will show you the music we are playing.

Hello Barbara! just wondering if I can join one of your classes. Want to make sure if I "qualify" as beginner. I'm learning to play the violin. So far I only play in the first position.

For the July 23 meet up let's welcome our new cellist, Mark with some easy favorites from Progressive Trios and the Celtic fiddle book as well as some of the pieces in the beginning of the Weddings for Two. We're getting a big repertoire now, so I'll just take requests. After we play the old favorites we can continue to work on Weddings for Two: #6 (Bach Air) and #9 (Handel Entrance of the Queen of Sheba) Classical Trio Music: Mozart Divertimento-Menuetto-Romance-Rondo"

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
