This is a joint event again with Roberta's group.  She's been hosting wine and food meetups on my group since 2008 and I'm so happy that she's founded her own group called "Wine Noir" to share her expertise and knowledge and introduce us to her world of wine after wine after wine! lol

Dan Glover's winery, L'Objet Noir, was born from a passion for French Burgundies that developed during his career as an LA music writer and producer. When he realized he couldn't afford to drink these revered and expensive wines every day, he decided to make them!

After relocating to Healdsburg, California, Dan honed his winemaking chops at Clos du Bois, Armida and Dutcher Crossing. His first solo vintage was in 2008, dedicated to his muse: Pinot Noir. Dan is committed to making wines that are meant to go with food versus what he calls, "getting drunk" wines. He uses minimal intervention winemaking techniques, such as relying on native yeast fermentation and limiting new oak for aging. He sources his grapes from vineyards that are as close to organic and sustainable as possible.

Dan revels in the bliss of what the right wine paired with the right food can evoke in all the senses, especially when it's shared in just the right company. For him, that's what it's all about!

For this meetup, we will have four wines.

Dan will pour L'Objet Noir:

2010 Pinot Noir, Bacigalupi Vineyard, Russian River

2009 Pinot Noir Reserve Cuveé: Anderson Valley, Russian River Valley, Sonoma Coast

and Santa Maria Valley

I will also be pouring two mystery whites made by another AA winemaker.

Dan is generously offering his wines at a 10% discount the day of the event.

    Due to sign ups on the Wine Noir site, where this event is also posted, I had to close RSVPs. I spoke to the general manager of the venue today, who said the kitchen can't accommodate more than 15 (which is where we are now!) unless the additional guests agree to a prix fixe menu. It would be $31.00 and includes one of three entrees, plus the cost for four wines $25.00, a total of $56.00 plus 20% gratuity:

    Prix fixe menu:

    mushroom pasta
    black truffle pasta, mushroom ragout, herb broth, pecorino

    scottish salmon
    lentils, parsnip puree, tomato-almond bread sauce

    crispy jidori chicken
    seasonal vegetable ragout, roasted garlic thyme jus


    and a cheese course with seasonal accompaniments.
