Korean BBQ at Soowon Galbi

Hi, everyone, It was very hard for me to shift my gear to another holiday as I had been so consumed by Thanksgiving preparations, but finally I got in the mood for holidays, and it's mainly thanks to Kay, our AO, who's co-organizing our Christmas meetup. We just started to plan, and it would take sometime to finalize the details before posting the event, but it would be on Christmas Eve. Now, here's another co-hosting event with our member Andree. She has become an Assistant Organizer of a group called "Korean Barbecue Groupies" and as a big fan of Korean BBQ, I had no hesitation to say Yes! when she asked me if I would like to have a joint event with her! lol http://www.meetup.com... The place is called Soowon Galbi on Vermont Ave. in Koreatown and a little south of 8th St. For your convenience, I have attached the map thanks to my outside supporter... Hope it helps you to find the place! :-) 10 members from each group makes 20 of us dining together! Will let you know more about the menu later. Kay, should we go to the Korean coffee shop you took us before, or is there any other good place nearby that we could go to afterwards?! :-0 I'd also like to ask members... Should we do family style or individually paying? Do you like beef or pork or chicken or other meats or just everything like myself? Are you going to order alcohol? Besides BBQ, would you like to share some side dishes? I love all kinds of Korean appetizers beside panchan... Ahhhhh my mouth is already watering!! lol Please answer the question when you RSVP. Thanks!!! Sally

I just wanted to thank all of you for joining us at Soowon Galbi! Despite an (ahem) interesting start, a great time was had by all!

Yes, Sally, Sanjang also has blankets. They only have one fire pit, unlike Yellow House Garden Cafe, but you will love the setting. Sorry that I won't be able to join. This restaurant is not my cup of tea, but it has many fans. Hope you guys have a great meal.

Their specialty is family platters so better to go family style.

Sally, if you guys want to go to Korean cafe afterwards, there are so many, but one of my favorite is not that far from Soowon Galbi. It's called "Sanjang" on Virgil. You can find this place listed in Yelp. This place caters to much older crowds than "Yellow House Garden Cafe" - the one I took members last year after my KBBQ meet-up. Have fun you guys.
