The great potluck at Martha's house recently prompted me to plan more, but with a little twist)
Hope you like this idea of mine as I wonder now how come I didn't think of it much earlier! lol Well, most of the members of this group love to cook (or learn to cook) and it really reflects on the quality of the food we get at any of our potlucks - we're serious about food!)
Then, why not we have a potluck at Surfas kitchen this summer? You will have a chance to cook at the professional kitchen yourself or with others or watch others cook - all you have to bring is the food ingredients if you want to cook, or you can even ask other members to cook for you if you can negotiate) And you don't have to worry about the hot summer weather and can use appliances and utensils in the kitchen to cook from scratch, or finish up cooking or re-heating. I myself already have some ideas on what to cook.
As usual, I'll maintain a list of food to be cooked or brought for the potluck, sorted by categories. For example, here's the list for the last potluck at Martha's:

To attend, please sign up with $9 prepayment by Paypal (that's my way to prevent too many flakes - last-minute cancellations and no-shows as people tend to flake if they haven't paid.) When RSVP, please also indicate what you're planning to bring if you know already. If you're planning to cook in the kitchen and need any specific condiments or appliances in cooking, please let me know as well so that I can check with Surfas.
The $9 fee is to help me pay the kitchen rental fee and buy plastic plates, utensils, etc, to minimize the cleanup time. Yes, it probably won't be enough, but I'm willing to pay the difference by myself as I truly believe this would be a great opportunity for my members to meet, maybe cook together, and of course eat together and have lots of fun!
The kitchen will be rented for three hours from 11am to 2pm. I'm planning to start the meal around 12:30pm. If you want to cook, you can come earlier after 10am. If you just want to show up and eat the food, you can come around 12:30-1pm. And it would be great if you can help set up or clean up.
