Dear members,

Thanksgiving meetup was so much fun and this year we had more cooks than last year at Jonathan's house. Thanks to David, we were cooking and eating like one big family again and I can't thank enough those generous people like Jonathan, Flora and David who literally made it possible. All the food taste really good!)

Then we had a cooking class at Simon's cafe yesterday and we all had a great time cooking and eating tasty food!  Hope I can post photos soon.  And it was very nice meeting two new members, Patricia and Eve.

I'm very happy that people now truly understand my passion to create opportunities for the members to meet others who share the same interest, and especially spend time together during the holidays so people have a place to go and nobody feels left out.  I've been very fortunate to have members like Jonathan, Linh, Art and others who understand my desire and have generously offered to open their houses for the gatherings:

http://www.meetup.com/LACooking/events/12005076/?action=detail&from=list&eventId=12005076&offset=0

And yesterday Eve told me that she's willing to open her house for holiday meetup and you can tell my excitement! Look at the beautiful kitchen! She said the four-story house has magnificent view too)

The kitchen looks spacious and I would like to have half potluck, half cooking meetup. What excited me even more was Patricia who's originally from Uruguay also offered to show us how to make Uruguayan empanada.  And Manoj, originally from India, is going to cook some Indian food, too.)

If you want to cook or bring something, please let me know.

To attend, please make a prepayment of $10 by Paypal.  The fees collected will be used to purchase utensils, drinks and food ingredients and I'll update the list of food to be served.

The address will be sent only to the attendees who have paid.

Tentative Menu:

-Indian food by Manoj

-Uruguayan Empanada by Patricia

-Rice salad with apple, dried cranberries and basil by Flora

-Chocolate cappuccino cheesecake by Martha

Thank you very much, Eve, for your generosity. I know it's going to be lots of fun!)

Happy cooking and eating together always,

Sally

Okay, so a number of you asked me for the garlic dill spread recipe. (Soooooooo easy!!) Here it is!

    Dill, Feta & Garlic Spread

2 (8 oz) packages cream cheese, softened
1 (8 oz) package feta cheese, crumbled
3 cloves fresh garlic, peeled and mined (this amount is for wimps! I use a whole head of garlic!)
2 tablespoons chopped fresh dill (or as much as you want)

Thoroughly blend all ingredients (can use mixer, food processor)
Cover and refrigerate at least 4 hours.
    Serve with crackers. Enjoy!

Can be frozen if you want to make a BIG batch.
