Italian, Asian fusion, Middle eastern/ Greek, Vegan and Vegetarian interesting gourmet dishes.
I love to travel to a new and interesting place each time. In Europe I love Italy and the South of France as well as the Greek islands. I also love Tahiti and the Caribbean.
Wow, there have been so many all over the world. I think it's hard to top Italy for the food and the wine. One night in Northern Italy really stands out. We were staying in Stressa by Lake Maggiore and asked the locals for a place with just really good authentic food. This charming restaurant had fresh vegetables growing right on the patio where we ate, beautiful tomatoes and eggplants and fresh basil. The fresh pasta with tomatoes, eggplant, fresh Mozzarella and fresh basil still makes my mouth water when I think about it. We also spent an incredible afternoon in a gorgeous winery in Tuscany. The wine and food pairing was to die for. For the main course they served a very light and airy lasagna. I don't normally even like lasagna but this dish made with bechamel sauce from a recipe that was in their family for generations will stay in my memory forever. We finished off the meal with homemade almond biscotti and cognac. Yum!
I am an excellent cook but I will classify myself as intermediate as there is so much I don't know and I am far from being a professional chef. I mostly make vegetarian dishes but do cook beef and chicken at times. I love to cook Italian and middle eastern cuisine. Pasta is my favorite but I am making a lot more vegetables and salads lately.
I love watching cooking shows such as "barefoot contessa" and "chopped". I am amazed by the creativity and the presentation. I love fancy gourmet food. I love interesting and unusual combinations that end up tasting amazing together. I like fancy sauces. I love food and wine pairing. I love everything vegetarian and I am more picky about other foods. I don't eat seafood or pork but love a good steak every once in a while.
I love cooking, fine gourmet food and good wine!
