I want to learn more about food and cooking while meeting people who have a similar interest. I was a French major in college; and, while my French is pretty rusty, I'm also interested in being around those who speak the language and have an interes

The trip I've most enjoyed was to Kenya. I love animals and was blown away by the beauty of everything I saw. I felt that I was in a different world.
Two meals come to mind. One was at Trader Vic's in San Francisco when I was a child. I was traveling with my parents, and that restaurant was so exotic--like nothing I had ever experienced before. There was a real shrunken head on display in the lobby! The food was delicious, and the whole experience left an indelible mark on my memory. The other was at a famous restaurant outside of New Orleans. Again, I was with my parents and some other relatives. The restaurant was on the banks of the Mississippi in an old plantation home. It was so atmospheric that you felt that you had been transported to a different world. The food was magnificent. The first course was turtle soup, and we had filet mignon and lobster as entrees. To this day, I haven't tasted anything superior. Unfortunately, the restaurant later burned down.
I guess I'm an intermediate cook. I don't have a speciality. I love talking about and learning about food and listen to cooking programs on the radio all the time. I'm also interested in wine and how it pairs with various foods.
I live alone and don't cook a lot myself, but I love to learn about food and cooking and wish to become more proficient at it. When I do cook, I'm always complimented and would say that I'm a good cook although on a narrow range of foods. I'm currently remodeling my kitchen and plan to do more entertaining and cooking in the near future. Whenever I travel, sampling the local cuisine is always one of the things I most enjoy. I regularly listen to cooking programs and also enjoy wine tasting and learning about wine/food pairings. I love eating out and appreciate the gourmet cuisine as well as the ambiance of fine restaurants. I collect cookbooks.
Join this group if you love food--appreciate fine dining, like to cook, like to try new foods, like to talk about dining experiences. Join this group if you love food and like sharing culinary experiences with educated, professional people from a variety of backgrounds and cultures.

Hi Rhonda,
It was nice seeing you at the Boeuf Bourguign (Beef Bouguignon) Cooking Meetup.
I didn't even realize you were at Korean BBQ at Soowon Galbi and Around the World Holiday Cooking on Christmas Eve which I was at also. See you soon.
Hi, I found you on the Pleasure Palate meetup page and I noticed your interest in good food. I just started an LA Foodie Specials meetup group to bring together friends who love food, like yourself, while saving you $$$ on your dinner expenses. We've got fun & adventurous events coming up like the Kitchen Nightmares Meetup, where we'll be exploring an L.A. restaurant that Chef Gordon Ramsey turned around on his TV show. Hop on board and come have some fun with us! http://bit.ly/mummb![]()
Thanks! You are too kind! LOL!
