I'm excited to announce this lovely meetup by our member Casey, former owner of a wine and craft beer shop in Camarillo to pair 4 French wines with 4 French chocolates from L'Artisan du Chocolat in Silver Lake, owned by his French friend Christian Alexandre and his wife Whajung.

"Jim “Casey” is a Certified Wine Specialist (or as he likes to say, an “Adult Beverage Expert”).  Casey earned a Certificate with Merit in Wine, Spirits & Other Alcoholic Beverages from the Wine & Spirits Education Trust (WSET), the foremost international body in the field of wines and spirits education.

He was the sole proprietor of the wine/craft beer shop and bar, Essential Wine Co., formerly located in Camarillo, CA.  Social media is now Casey’s arena for writing about all things adult beverage.  He also produces and hosts online video segments when he has time between adult beverage experiments."















"Christian Alexandre and his wife Whajung started L’ Artisan du Chocolat in 2001.  They make chocolate the traditional French way using no preservatives and less sugar. Aside from classic chocolates they’ve developed unique flavors such as Greek Kalamata Olive, Bacon, Korean Garlic, Japanese Red Bean etc.

Whajung is the Maitre Chocolatier and was trained in Paris at the renown Ecole Superieure de Cuisine Jean Ferrandi and has worked with some of the most qualified “Confiseur” and chocolate makers in Paris.  Christian has a different background as an International Banker, Financial Planner, Professor of Economics and Politics and one-time Mayor of a small town in France.

Over the years, numerous celebrities such as Maria Shriver, Fergie and the Dali Lama have been lucky enough to appreciate the hand made, fresh chocolates of L’Artisan du Chocolat.  It has been reviewed in dozens of publications and featured on radio and TV shows.  It has professional awards at the International Chocolate Show in San Francisco and at the Luxury Chocolate Salon in Los Angeles in 2007. Among the accolades have been 8 Golds, 2 Silvers and a Bronze including for Top Artisan Chocolatier, Best ingredient combination, and Most Artistic Design."
