How about a bite-sized appetizer and dessert party? :)
I have done this before with a few friends, as well as another meetup, and it was such a blast! Everyone brings 2 pieces of bite-sized appetizers and 2 pieces of bite-sized desserts for each attendee and we "swap" - or rather walk around and fill our plates with the goods. Then we eat 'em all while we chit-chat. :)
If you think this would be fun and you can definitely make it, sign up! You can bring the usual cocktail party food or opt for your own unique miniaturized take on anything...
It would be great if you could say in your RSVP what you plan to bring, so we don't all make the same thing.
I know we are not all Rachel Rays and Martha Stewarts, (ahem!) but if you could make at least one of your foods home made, that would be perfect!
Some ideas for what to make (or buy if you must...) are the following:
For your appetizer or main "dish":
mini chicken pot pies, stuffed mushroom heads, caprese skewers, deviled eggs, spring rolls, mini sandwiches, sushi, kabob, cheddar quiche bites
For your dessert:
mini brownie bites, tiny cupcakes, mini cinnamon rolls, yummy cake balls, mini cheesecakes, crispy chocolate bars, home made truffles, etc.
Just keep 'em bite-sized! :)
You can find plenty of inspiration online, but here are some websites I found:
and more. Just google them...
I will have a long table that we can pack everything onto, dishes and utensils to use, but please bring your food ready to eat (e.g. not frozen / in need of heating / cooling, etc)
We will plan for 15 girls, so bring 2 pieces of each for everyone. That means you'll make 30 pieces of mini appetizer and 30 pieces of mini dessert. For example, I will make 30 tiny burgers (hopefully not frozen... Depending on my work schedule...) and 30 mini rizskoh's (which is a Hungarian sweet treat). Easy. :)
Also, someone who doesn't want to / like to cook could sign up for soft drinks, and someone else for wine / light alcohol... Just say so in your RSVP.
I am hosting this in my home, and I will only send my address (in the 90025 area) to you if I can confirm that you are who you say you are. If we have met or you have a history with the group, no worries. If you have never been to a Girls' Meetup before, I will have to talk to you on the phone to be on the safe side. Please email me your phone number if you are new, so I can verify you.
See you soon!
