Book Launch Party - "Westside Chronicles"

Jan Loomis, archivist for Santa Monica Land and Water has a new book coming out telling the stories of the development of what we now refer to as most of "The Westside" of Los Angeles. Join us for her talk and a book signing available during refreshments. If the weather is good, the botanical gardens will be open too.

Jan's access to 100 years of history of the land from the Ranchos to the modern Westside is an absolute 'find'. I think yesterday's talk was the best we've heard her give. Her new Publisher let her tell her story 'as she saw fit' in the book which encouraged her to dig deeper into the archive materials than identifying pictures for a photo story of 'what happened'. The audience could have asked questions for another hour if they hadn't been told she'd be able to answer questions while she signed books. For additional info on her book look for Libby Motika's byline in the Pali Post this week.

Matt, Pat Daniel, Marlene and George S. do not have reservations. Please sign up and change your RSVP to show you have reservation or say you are not coming. Meetup counts 'no shows' and none of us want to get on that list! See you guys tomorrow.

La Senora is taking reservations for this event. To save your spot you need to 1) go to www.lasenora.org 2) choose Events Registration & Book, 3) choose the 'sort down arrow' to get to Events and make your reservation. Remember that La Senora gives this meetup the 'member rate' so unless you're into donating more, chose the $5 member registration. Then return to this site and change your RSVP by adding 'have reservation' to the comments field George and Anna are the only two of our meetup's members who currently have reserved spaces.
