Howdy folks,

Just a friendly reminder: Hollywood Hack Day is this weekend. You're getting this e-mail because you've registered to attend. If your plans have changed and you can't make it, please hit reply and let me know. (It helps us with meal planning.)

The Rundown
We're starting at 9 AM on Saturday, November 5th. Please bring your ticket (either printed or digital). You're free to work on anything, web app, mobile app, crazy hardware hacks, just as long as you stick to the theme of media (music, video, etc.).

Date: Saturday, November 5, 2011 at 9:00 AM - Sunday, November 6, 2011 at 9:00 PM (PT)

6806 Lexington Ave.
Los Angeles, CA 90038

Since it's the weekend, you can park anywhere on the street.

We've added even more prizes, so if you haven't checked the site in a while, visit http://www.hollywoodhackday.com to see the list.

Forming Teams
If you don't have a team yet, we're organizing a pre-event meetup this Friday night. (Even if you do have a team, come out anyway and meet your fellow hackers.) You can get all the details here: http://plancast.com/p/87ov/hollywood-hack-day-pre-event-meetup

These are the fine folks that helped make Hollywood Hack Day possible. A lot of them have APIs and are giving out special prizes for the best use of them. You should take some time to look through them—there's a lot of useful stuff.

Special thanks to our food sponsors Chipotle & PopChips, Katalyst for graciously providing the space we'll all be hacking in, FullScreen for designing the web site, and Coloft for helping to spread the word!

We're all about big data around media (music, movies, and TV listings). Big fan of Alysa Milano? Using our data, you can find out every movie she's been in, every song she's recorded (yeah, she recorded some), every TV show she's been in, AND the next time a TV show she's in is airing in your area. That's powerful stuff.

We'll be giving out a $250 AMEX gift card for the best use of our API.

We make it easy to add flexible, multi-way video chat to your application. Build video chat into your app in less than 15 minutes.

We'll be giving out a Kindle Fire (preorder) for the best use of our API.

Log-in to our open data commons of dozens of RESTful APIs, including Rdio, Netflix, Rovi Cloud Services, Rotten Tomatoes, Klout, Qwerly, and more. Build better apps with the Mashery API Network. Interactive API documentation and developer tools get you up and running fast.

We'll be giving out a Jawbone Jambox for the best use of any API in our network.

Rdio is a social music service that allows unlimited on-demand access to over 12 million tracks. Rdio's unique social features provide a rich music discovery experience across web, desktop and mobile applications. The Rdio API enables developers to easily add legal, licensed music to their applications and to build their own social music experiences on top of Rdio's social graph on iOS, Android and the web.

We'll be giving out a one year unlimited Rdio subscription to the best use of our API. We'll also be giving out 3 month unlimited Rdio subscriptions to anyone that presents a hack that uses the Rdio API.

Sonos is the wireless HiFi system that lets you stream all the music on earth in every room. Start with one room, then, expand anywhere to fill your home with room-filling sound. Set up Sonos players wirelessly and control all your music with free apps for your Android smartphone, iPhone or iPad.

We are amped to be a part of the fest and may the best team rock the app! We'll be giving out a Sonos Play:3 and Bridge.

Spotify is more than just a way to listen to music for free, it's a platform. The Spotify Metadata API allows you to search and lookup any piece of content in the Spotify music catalog. We also have an embeddable C package you can use to re-create the Spotify streaming music experience on Windows, Mac, Linux, and iOS.

We help over 250,000 muscians connect to their fans on Facebook. We help the the music community by providing practical tools for musicians. Give it a try at www.RootMusic.com or www.facebook.com/bandpage We're stoked to meet and hack alongside all of you! Send us a tweet if you'd like to connect, @rootmusic
