My name is Javier, a former US Army paratrooper, first aid, cpr, aed certified and lifetime resident of the LA area.

What does preparedness mean to you?

Being prepared means I stand a better chance of coming out ahead regardless of what situation is thrown at me.

What do you see happening in the world that is prompting you to prepare?

I've been reading about potential finacial collapse and earth changes since I was about 18 and I feel that much of what has been predicted is coming to pass.

What are you hoping to gain and learn from the group?

I'm hoping to learn new skills, meet like minded people and get more prepared for anything that may happen.

List any and all experience, knowledge, and skills can you contribute....

I have military experience(11B), have some EMT/first aid training, practice martial arts and I am proficient in working out with KB's and TRX along with military PT.

Are you willing to be an active member? (Meaning you will participate in meetups, post in the forum, or contribute skills to teach as much as time will allow)

I better be, I'm the organizer. lol

What Javier is saying about this Meetup Group

So far the members I met seemed like a solid bunch. I look forward to meeting more members.

    Hey, Javier.

Just saw your message on my wall... Hadn't been active on MeetUp for the past month!

I was with the 10th SF Group out of Ft. Carson; I miss the Airborne.

I'd also like to discuss with you and the other coordinators the possibility of some lobbying activity. We are preparing for a disaster, but that doesn't mean we want one to happen. Government on all levels must be prodded to harden infrastructure, to wean the U.S. off oil dependence, to decentralize electrical production, and more. Feel free to hit me up at [masked] if you'd like to discuss this in more detail than a Meetup post can fit. Show my posts to the other organizers.

    Hi Javier,

    I enjoyed meeting you today.

You can offer a more practical side: the tactics and survival skills we discussed. Mine is a mix of academic and practical: recommendations of good books to read on preparedness, some stuff I learned about personal finance when I was a teller (but I can't give investment advice), and a little on gardening.

Glad to see you're not only on board for our first meetup, but the first to sign on. Guess who's the man? That's right, you are.

Hey Javier, anyone ever tell you you're a dead ringer for Nick Fury: Agent of Shield?

Javier: "War is no the answer" and I refuse to be armed with weapons. Food, Higiene, skills, batteries, medicine and Fist Aid supplies sound good. I am agains weapons. Is kinda scary the last long e-mail you have sent about the war in Bosnia and to be armed.

Hello Javier, the bug out bag meeting time shows as 11:30 PM (at night). Is this correct?
