This went well! A lot of folks got an intro to the local robotics group, hackerspaces, arduino--you name it. Loscon is a 3 day party that happens every November over Thanksgiving weekend. The Los Angeles Science Fantasy Society also meets every Thursday in Van Nuys. Tim and I put on a makerspace within the annual convention to infect others with the Whole Idea.
Authors who visited the MRMR:
Vernor Vinge ("The Coming Technological Singularity", Fast Times at Fairmont High,The Peace War, A Fire in the Deep, Rainbow's End ), David Brin (The Postman, Startide Rising, The Uplift Saga and Annika's favorite), Jerry Pournell (BYTE mag "Chaos Manor", Footfall, Lucifer's Hammer) and Larry Niven (Ringworld, Lucifer's Hammer, Long Arm of Gil Hamilton) and W.F. Nolan (Logans Run!)-- all visited the MR.
Perhaps they'll use us for ideas in their next books!
Thanks Annika and Company!

You buy tickets at the door. Tickets get you admission to the entire convention, not just the Arduino panel. They are $35 for a one-day pass, or $60 for the weekend.
The convention includes the "Make Room! Make Room!" which is a maker exhibition, a whole floor of the hotel full of evening parties, panels with famous science-fiction authors, a dealer's room with everything from books and videos to jewelry and costumes, an art show, a dance and an ice cream social, a masquerade (costume contest) and tons of other special events. It's like a 3-day long party!
