LA Robotics Club Message Board › Please update CogCamp RSVPs for this weekend.
Los Angeles, CA
Please make sure your RSVPs are up-to-date for the CogCamp events, so we can get an finally tally of interested attendees.
Please note that this is primarily an event for software developers. In order to participate in any tutorials, you'll need to have a basic comfort level with Linux and a laptop running Ubuntu or Windows with VirtualBox prepared to install an Ubuntu Virtual Machine. You should be comfortable programming in at least one of Python, C++, or Scheme.
The format for the weekend will be a basic high-level introduction to OpenCog and it's various components, and a quick tour of available resources for learning (Documentation, Wiki, Videos, etc), and an install-fest to ensure there are a sufficient number of running systems for attendees to work with.
The rest of the weekend will primarily be self-directed learning in small groups, divided by areas of interest. This is a community-driven event, which means that participants will get only as much out of it as they put in.
Finally, It's been pointed out to me that due to RoboGames this weekend, and upcoming Finals for students, this might be bad timing for this event. If a significant number of would-be attendees would prefer to postpone the event to a later date, please leave your comments on the event page. Otherwise, we will likely have another OpenCog-focused event in the coming months.
Thanks for you attention and for updating your RSVP.
