The LASG does not have any political leanings, endorsements or agendas. However, the fact is that the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley is surrounded by some kick ass roads. So why not put a museum stop in the middle of some great riding? Seems like a scooter thing to do.
We’ll start from our usual PCH & Sunset meetup spot and then make our way up the coast to Topanga Canyon and take Old Topanga to Mulholland Highway. Turning westward, we’ll make a stop at a real biker bar, the Rock Store. After a break at the Rock Store we’ll continue on Mulholland up over the treacherous corners of the Snake. We’ll continue West bound towards Decker Canyon. The first part of this section is of medium difficulty, however the last part is very curvy and technical; so be prepared. Down Decker we’ll travel northbound again on Westlake Boulevard. This will eventually get us to the library.
Ronnie’s place has some really spectacular views and is definitely worthy of a decent break. The vistas and outside areas are free to roam and free of charge. This will also give people a chance to decide if they want to take the library tour. It costs around $10 for adults and takes 2½ to 3 hours to complete. Although there is a decidedly political bent to the visit, it really is a world-class exhibition hall and merits a visit once in your lifetime no matter of your civil leanings. They even have RR’s Air force One Boeing 707 on display and you can walk through it; very cool.
The current exhibition features Disney art and memorabilia.

After the break you can decide to stick around, take the library tour and we’ll give you a nice, scenic route back to Topanga Canyon Boulevard. Or… you can decide to continue on with the group and go to lunch at the famous Simi Valley hangout, Green Acres. They have some of the best BBQ in the city. Try the TriTip burrito or pork ribs. Order the Chili as a side, it’s delicious.
Finally we’ll take Box Canyon to the San Fernando Valley and home.

THIS IS A MODERATE CANYON RIDE WITH ADVANCED ELEMENTS. The Snake, Decker and Box Canyon are tricky bits to ride. To emphasize this point, we had three people go down on Decker once, one was a very advanced, seasoned rider and one required hospitalization. NO JOKE, if you haven’t ridden canyons before and especially if you have not ridden in a group before, you have no business doing this ride; YOU ENDANGER YOURSELF AND FELLOW RIDERS OTHERWISE. We cannot emphasize enough to be honest with yourself and with us and don’t sign up unless you think you are truly up to the task.
Everyone, including guests and passengers, will be required to sign our standard member info form and ride waiver. To save time, you can download one and fill it out here:
Due to the difficulties of the ride, only experienced riders with 125cc scoots or larger will be allowed for this one. Lastly, there is no two-up riding unless you have the bike, skills and experience to do so.
RSVPs are limited to 40. If you RSVP but cannot attend, please change your status here as soon as possible so others will be able to come. Again, this is not a ride for beginners or those unfamiliar with canyon riding and twisties. We'll have more rides posted for others soon!
As always, please read our riding Guidelines and Group Policies before attending a ride:
Questions? Feel free to email us or post in the comments for the ride page.
Should be a great day of riding!
