Mulholland All the Way

From Hollywood to the ocean, taking Mulholland Dr./Mulholland Hwy. the entire way! This will be a long, full day's ride, over 100 miles. It's suited for experienced rides (lots of twisties!) and scooters over 125cc. NOTE: RSVPs will open Thursday, 12/20 at noon.

Meet at Trails in Griffith Park at 9am. Please come early if you want coffee or breakfast. There may be a line.

Depart at 9:30am.

The first segment will be from Hollywood Hills to Encino, where Mulholland ends. We'll take Ventura Blvd. to Topanga Cyn. Blvd., have a gas stop, then head up to Mulholland Hwy.

From there, we continue to the Rock Store for a brief stop, then on to the PCH!

South on the PCH to Sunset Blvd. Sunset all the way back to Hollywood.

Full route:

RSVPs will be limited to 40. Please see our RSVP Policy for any questions about this.

LUNCH STOP: There will be a 1-hour lunch stop in the town of Topanga Canyon. There are several eateries in the immediate vicinity, including a vegan/vegetarian option. (No fast food out there.) As we did on our Ojai ride last summer, we will provide a list with a map (below; we'll bring copies to the ride), then set a meeting time. You can also opt to pack a lunch.

Again, this ride is suited for riders experienced with canyons and twisties. We'll have shorter and less technical rides scheduled soon.

Foul weather will result in a postponement. We'll post any changes here.

As always, please read our Policies and Group Riding Guidelines before joining an LASG ride.

Victory Jon photos of our crew are up! Is that Michelle as the featured pic for the gallery? If so, very appropriate since she suggested this ride!

Hey where'd the ride map link go? I was curious on the route we took from Trails to Mulholland... was looking at google today and couldn't sort how we did that exactly. I was too busy following to pay much attention to how we were getting there.

Fantastic, fun and fast! Everyone was awesome. One of the best and most beautiful of all the LASG rides that I've been on.

What a blast I had yesterday! Great to have met some KOOL & KIND scooters people. Wish I had stayed longer but when is your wife's B'day then you have to make the queen happy too. Never knew there were so many hidden picture perfect spots along Mulholland. The Topanga lunch break was an ideal stop and for sure my juicy and yummy burrito at Abuelita's was a well needed meal. To Eric, the other organizers, and those who helped all of us along the ride, my gratitude for making it happen. I look forward to having other rides with this FAV group.

What a fun ride. It was worth the 239 miles up and back from Dana Point. We don't have those kinds of twistys down here. It was every thing I hoped for. Question, what is the name of the site where you can look for the pictures they take at The Snake? Thanks in advance.

Going to have to change my RSVP to no on this one due to major scooter issues! Bummer I will miss it....
Nail in new rear tire, speedomoter/odometer broken/ kickstand still broken...waiting for part to come in. With odometer stuck at 4962 will probably need major service soon....i've heard belts need to be replaced around 4k-6k miles....

    January 10, 2013

    • Eric

Has anyone checked out the speedometer? It's usually just the cable, but my speedo gears ground up and if ignored for too long could have led to my front wheel locking up! Also, if you need a center stand, I happen to have a used but good condition one in my garage. Let me know!

Hi, I will also join at the gas stop. Do you think around 10:30?

      January 11, 2013

    • Eric

10:30 is a pretty safe bet. It's hard for us to estimate with a large group, so it may be later.

      January 12, 2013

  • Luis N.

Sorry have to bow out as my scooter won't start. :( First time ever. What's the deal. I'll have to spend some time on it tomorrow to figure out what's wrong but it won't happen by 9:30 AM. Have fun everyone.

SO sad that I have to head back east tomorrow, would have loved to have joined you on this one. :-(

    January 7, 2013

Eric, I'll be at trails cafe even though I'm on the waiting list. I live less than five miles. If there's less than 40 riders can I join the ride?

    January 3, 2013

    • Eric

Someone changed their RSVP, so you're confirmed for the ride now.

      January 4, 2013

  • Eric

Reminder: Please change your RSVPs if you cannot attend. We have a wait list now. Folks on the wait list: You'll probably be confirmed by next week, so keep an eye out for notifications!

  • Eric G.

So, this will be my first ride with the motorcycle. I love this group and want to ride with everyone but I completely respect it if you want to keep it to scooters, and the traditional tailgunner. Otherwise, I'm looking forward to riding with the greatest group of riders regardless of ride.

Just one other question. . . In between Havenhurst and Topanga Mullholland is a dirt road, or was last time I rode it. Are we really riding the entire road including the fire road? Is that still open to traffic? Haven't been since '84.

    December 29, 2012

    • Syl

@eric...lol low displacement...I use to bring my 1000cc Yamaha R1!...lol now I bring my 250cc Ninja which is actually way more practical.

      1 · December 29, 2012

    • Eric G.

Yeah, I know. I will probably be in the market for a nice used scooter again when the coffers replenish but, for the time being, I've got this lovely 950cc beast to ride. Honestly though, it doesn't feel less wieldy than the burgman I tried, thanks Brandon.

I will trailer up to the area of the start and need a safe place to leave the car & trailer. I will drive up on friday the 21st and look around, any suggestions appreciated. Thanks.
    Merry Christmas.

A good lot open from sunup to sundown and it has a few pull-thru spaces.

      December 21, 2012

    • olibear

There is tons of space by the LA Zoo, but don't know if they would hassle you for leaving the car & trailer. http://goo.gl/maps/AJ...

May I suggest organizing this ride as two groups of 20 - if possible? I think it would make the ride more enjoyable and easier to manage.

    December 19, 2012

    • Eric

      What Syl said!

This is a VERY simple route, so this would be pretty easy to do this way.

      December 20, 2012

    • Brandon C.

I agree about the 2 group idea- regardless of number- twisties easily stretch a group apart- and groups could make the streetlights a bit easier- but yeah- doesn't matter till you see the turnout. I haven't done the east side of the 405 for years... but west I've done to death... When I 1st got the burgman I was doing it 3 times a week! Need to see how my schedule works out...

      December 22, 2012

  • Lauren K.

What time do you think we will be back to the starting point - by mid afternoon ??

    December 21, 2012

    • Eric

Possibly, but I'm guessing it may be late afternoon/early evening.

      December 21, 2012

  • Pat T.

This sounds great. Looking forward to it
