Hello, LA Scooterists!
For the first time in a decade, the country's largest annual scooter event, Amerivespa, is coming to Southern California next year! The SoCal scooter community is very excited about Amerivespa 2013, which will be held June 27-30 in San Diego. The main lodging (with discounted price) will be the Town and Country Resort and Convention Center. Despite the name, THIS RALLY IS OPEN TO ALL MAKES AND MODELS OF SCOOTERS!
Amerivespa is four days of scooter riding, events and entertainment, a big banquet, a concourse, and a gymkhana (games and competitions). This year's rally in Lake Geneva, WI, drew over 600 registrants. 2013 will likely be bigger.
For a sense of what an event that size is like, check out my pics from this year: http://www.flickr.com/photos/82788703@N00/sets/72157630309040506/
Here's a wrap-up I did of the 2010 rally in San Antonio:
(Please excuse the effusive and hyperbolic introduction!)
The Los Angeles Scooter Group is already making plans for a massive group ride to SD to attend the event. Start saving your pennies and vacation days now! We rode to the 2009 Amerivespa in Los Gatos, which was so much fun those who attended are still talking about it. The combination of proximity, gorgeous routes around the SD area and the wonderful SD scooter community guarantee that 2013 is not to be missed!
More details to be announced in coming months. Ways stay up to date on planning and announcements (including registration, lodging, itinerary, the LASG ride):
