I've emailed her and have her phone so will call this afternoon or tomorrow if I don't hear from her. Having been in a crash, I know you wind up having to talk about it a lot, explain what happened to doctors, friends and family, and the last thing you want to do is talk about it some more.
Many thanks to everyone who was there on the scene. You guys all handled the situation perfectly, doing all the right things. For those who were not on the ride, here's my account of what happened that I sent to the other oranizers: First time meetup member Tracy crashed on the ride today. She took a turn wrong, went down on her left side and took a small slide into an embankment on the side of the road. (I was ahead and didn't see this happen, but went back as soon as I found out what had happened.) Fortunately, there's a fire station across the street from where she went down (Mulholland Hwy, probably 200 yards from our stop at the Rock Shop) and we were able to get her immediate attention. From what we (and the paramedics) could tell, she wasn't badly injured. She had a couple cuts on her face (visor was knocked right off her open-face helmet), some bruises and road rash. She was taken to a hospital, West Hills, I think. (They didn't tell us where she was going until the ambulance had pulled away.) She had her phone and was going to notify her brother, though. Also fortuitous that Mike from NoHo Scooters was with us. He knew a tow truck nearby and was able to have her scooter taken to his shop. I feel pretty awful about this, of course. I don't know that it could have been prevented… Some of us in the front were riding fairly fast, but there were others keeping a slower pace, someone rounding up the back and we were stopping occasionally to allow others to catch up. As I said to someone else who asked about the ride, yes, crashes happen, it just sucks that it had to happen to one of us yesterday. |

Tracy just called the shop. She is OK. No broken bones, just some stitches. She is going to come by the shop tomorrow to assess the damage to her scooter.

Tracy,
Sorry to hear about your accident. It's no fun to go down. I did that 1 1/2 years ago and broke my hand. I takes awhile to get back to where you were. Just take it easy and get back scootin when you are ready. I decided not to go because of the forecast wind gusts but went out for a ride to get some wind experience anyway. Since I live within blocks of Muholland, I rode out to the Rock Shop thinking of joining up with you there. I arrived about 12:45 and then doubled back but didn't see anyone. Tazio |

Very good to hear Tracy's (relatively) okay. As some of us know first-hand, even a low-speed crash can cause some serious injuries. Thanks for the info, Mike.
Tazio, we got a late start from NoHo, as I was expecting a few more members, some of whom were there but I didn't know they were (the difficulties of going from online usernames and avatars to real life!). |

Got an email yesterday from Tracy. Here's her summary of her injuries: " I have a 2cm cut under my right eye that required stitches, some abrasions, bruises on right side of the body, and a concussion. Luckily these are only superficial cuts and no bone was broken."
She also thanked everyone for their concern. |
