The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County

This is not street shooting but I plan on doing it anyway..

(Though it is on a street,, and there is plenty to shoot in the area. And the University Of Southern California is right across the street)

There is a butterfly pavilion and a spider pavillion.. And if you have never been to this place you have no idea what you are missing..  Dinosaurs,, Mummies ,,  wierd bugs..

The Date is TBA,,

If you are interested,, join me for a day of shooting... good practice ,, fun and everything doesnt have to be on the street or really serious,, sometimes it's just for fun..

The Natural History Museum is located in Exposition Park at 900 Exposition Boulevard between Vermont Avenue and Figueroa Street.

Due to our own construction on the front side of the Museum, our directions avoid Exposition Blvd. east of Vermont.

From the Westside
10 East, exit Vermont Ave., turn right. Left onto Exposition Blvd. Museum is on the right.

From the South
110 North, exit Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., turn left. Right on Bill Robertson Lane (formerly Menlo Ave.). Parking lot is on the left; Museum is on the right.

From Pasadena, Downtown
110 South, exit Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., turn right. Right on Bill Robertson Lane (formerly Menlo Ave.). Parking lot is on the left; Museum is on the left.

METRO INFORMATION...

There are two NHM-convenient stops on the Metro Expo Line: the Expo/Vermont station or Expo Park/USC station.

The Expo/Vermont station brings you by the  Dueling Dinos statue. The pretty, short walk from Expo Park/USC is adjacent to the Rose Garden and NHM's renovated 1913 Building.

Parking

Parking is available for $8 in the Museum’s Car Park on Exposition Blvd. and Bill Robertson Lane. If the Car Park is full, patrolled lots are also available directly across from the Museum on Bill Robertson Lane for $10 (cash only), as well as in lots throughout Exposition Park. Parking rates and availability may vary during special events in Exposition Park. NHM has designated parking during USC games.

Be prepared: the Museum’s parking lot accepts cash only.

Just wanted to mention to the GROUP...it's OK if you can't make it to a meet up as long as you state you can't make it and REMOVE YOURSELF FROM THE RSVP LIST. When people sign up for the organizers puts that DAY aside for you. NO ONE SHOWED UP FOR THIS EVENT and CHRIS drove to LA from West Covina. Whats up?

Rocky, I didn't make it either. Hopefully with the PT, I'll have an easier time walking. Glad you feel better, since I see you're back at work.

Would love to get to this meetup, but I've been having too many problems walking and with my lower back and legs. I'd rather go on a day when it's less crowded, like during the week. I hope everyone has a great time and look forward to the photos you take.

Larry .. I put this one in weeks ago when I was looking for something to do,, I plan on dragging them around the Vermont /Normandy area,,, Not just the Museum.. So.. are you up for joining us? I can pick you upon the way.. Let me know.

Chris, is there a date for this event yet? There is a free day on June 4th (but none in July), and there is the first Friday, plus the butterfly and spider pavillions. I've seen the butterfly pavillion and the earlier you go the better. I would be willing to co-host a meetup on June 7th for a first Friday. If it's a large enough group, we could split up and cover different areas. Also, I'm sure there are plenty of sites to shoot around the USC campus and the Coliseum, Rose Garden, CA Science Center (free),and other museums in that area. I've been wanting to go there for sometime now anyway. What say you? And if Larry wants to host the meetup...all the better. ;-)

Sounds fun, I would love to visit the butterflies.

I don't work, but do have doctor's appointments to consider, which I can always reschedule. Hey, a trip to the NHM trumps a doctor's appointment anytime. ;-)

Sounds wonderful. Yes, there is plenty of street sites to shoot in that area. For seniors, the Butterfly Pav is only $2. I had planned on going on 4/2, but wasn't feeling well. And, the BlueLine has a stop right at USC. Maybe we could meet at Union Station? just sayin'
