It's not a redirect.  What is happening is that you are creating virtual urls that the search engine will read and index for your flash content.  If you combine this swf address method with DIV's for your primary content and some javascript flash detection, the Javascript will manipulate the page's document object model (DOM) to replace the primary content with the Flash movie. Most search engine spiders can't handle Flash, so they will elect to view the primary content.  The downside to this is that you run the risk of the search engine suspecting your site of cloaking... very bad idea, but it's also possible to use XML as the content source for both your website and your swf and this way you should be able to resolve the cloaking issue to achieve a flash website that will update the browser title bar with an seo friendly url for each unique page view, allow for deep-linking into the site content along with bookmarking and generate readable content for the spiders as well as alternate content for non flash enabled devices (like the iphone).

It's a lot of work and personally, I'd rather work on a php site with some slick jQuery animation techniques and only sparingly use flash for video or small interactive elements that are incorporated into the site.

Good articles, but still a bit risky to use.
In the first article, using the href in the jquery sounds like a good idea, but search engines have to read the content of the page. If they follow the url in the href and find content, they then will index the page appropriately. They won't index the page just because there's a url in there...I take that back, it will probably get indexed, but if it can't feed on the content, the spider will send it to the ether.

The second article about SWFAddress is NOT a solution! From what I read, it redirects the page...it wasn't real clear to me really, but if it's doing a redirect, what kind of redirect is it doing? That's important...if it's doing a meta refresh you're in trouble...if it's foing anything but a 301 redirect, I would stay away from it.

Secondly, i looked at the code of their "SEO Sample" page (http://www.asual.com/swfaddress/samples/seo/) and it has hidden links to their portfolio pages on the Homepage, About, Portfolio and Contact pages. Those are links at the top, which aren't readily recognizable...another thing Google looks at (Is the page user friendly). Even though you have a link to the portfolio page which then shows the links that are "hidden" on the other pages, they are still in the code on all pages. While this is most likely unintentional and hopefully can easily be remedied, I would stay away from things like AJAX annd SWFAddress until they have been perfected.

That's my 2 cents...I'm out! :)
