[LAWS] PST - A Celebration of Design+Architecture - at Helms Bakery

Last minute info for this event ...

This event has sold out. If you haven't already purchased a ticket, it's now too late.

Assuming you did purchase your ticket in advance, you should have received an email within the last day or two from KCRW Events titled "Important Event Info: KCRW & Helms Bakery's Design Celebration this Sunday." Here are the key points from that email in case you missed it ...

  • Print out and bring your ticket!
  • Check-in is at the main entrance of the Bakery (across from H.D. Buttercup and Father's Office).
  • Parking is shown on the map here: http://helmsbakerydistrict.com/map# .

The event doors open at 2:00 and seating is general admission. I'm going to plan on getting there about that time and I would appreciate it if one or two of you could do so as well to help me reserve seats. I will do my best to save enough seats but I make no promises, especially if you show up later than about 2:45. Look for me near the blue LAWS umbrella. It will be draped over one of the seats in our section until the program begins.

In case you need to reach me, my cell is[masked]-8361.  My land line is[masked]-0252.  In general, don't call me on my cell phone unless I tell you I'm turning it on -- which I will do for this event -- because it's almost always turned off (and I DON'T TEXT!).  Use my land line for normal calls.

I will leave my cell phone on until the program starts. If you arrive late and can't find us, just grab a seat anywhere and we'll hook up afterwards.

I'm looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow!

Our first event in connection with Pacific Standard Time Presents: Modern Architecture in L.A. will be the KCRW-sponsored "A Celebration of Design+Architecture in L.A.". There will be two panel discussions that afternoon plus live music from KCRW DJ Liza Richardson, a pop-up gallery of design curated by DnA's new "DJs" (design journalists), food trucks, and more.

I've chosen the second of the two panels for our LAWS event (but feel free to buy tickets to both and come early if you wish): Good Food's Evan Kleiman and restaurateur Sang Yoon will talk about modern design as it relates to food and the design of kitchens and restaurants, as well as Evan's memories of a childhood full of Modernist architecture.

The panel starts at 3 pm. We will meet up at 2:30 so we can find seats together. Tickets are $10.00 and include one Helms Bakery cookie or one Father's Office beer . All the details and the "Buy Tickets" link can be found here: http://events.kcrw.com/event/2013/04/14/a-celebration-of-design-architecture-in-l-a

Parking at Helms is free. For directions and a map, go here: http://helmsbakerydistrict.com/map

NOTE: LAWS RSVPs are unlimited but there's no guarantee there will be tickets left if you leave purchasing till the last minute!

I will email my cell number and a specific meetup location a day or two before this event.

Hope you can join us!

Raya and Veronica, this event sold out before you RSVP'd. You can try to get in, of course, but you may not make it.

Got my ticket for the 1 PM and the 3 PM...wonderful event choice. Thank you Beth. I will see if Jori will join us there. How about dinner in that neighborhood after...so many great little restaurants?

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
