Debbie Allen's career spanned across stage and screen as an actor, dancer, choreographer, director, producer, author, and international representative of the United States and its culture. One of her main life's work is the 'Debbie Allen Dance Academy' here in Southern California.
Zacalo Public Square with a grant from City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs will be hosting a discussion with Debbie Allen on her "perspective on the arts, on their role in our society, economy, and public health, and on arts education vital to today’s Los Angeles. How should we teach the arts in a time of diminished education budgets? What new paths are emerging for those who seek to devote their lives to artistic excellence? And, how do we best democratize the performing arts so that we all can dance?" at the Petersen Automotive Museum.
If you would like to attend this event, which is no cost to you, please register via this link
There is a $8 parking fee at the museum. If you are in the WLA area, I can give 3 ladies a ride.
The event starts at 7:30 p.m. but you probably need to claim your ticket by 7 p.m.
