The group will meet at 5:30 for dinner at the Brownstone Bistro, 5047 W. Pico Blvd., (between Sycamore and Orange), Los Angeles, CA 90019. At about 7:30 we will walk next door to the Rogue Machine Theatre (voted L.A.'s best small theater company in 2012) to see Falling, which starts at 8 p.m. Seating is open.
When you RSVP, please indicate whether you are joining us for dinner. Also please plan on purchasing a theater ticket immediately; the discount tickets sites are already sold out for early November. The LAWS No Show/Late Cancellation Policy applies to this meetup. If you aren't familiar with it, please read it at http://www.meetup.com/LAWS-LA-Womens-Social-Meetup-Group/messages/boards/thread/5250469#[masked].
The Play: Boldly exploring the dynamic and complicated reality of a family with an autistic 18-year-old, Falling poses difficult questions about loving someone who is hard to love. The Martins try desperately to lead a normal life. But, when a relative comes to visit, the entire family is thrown out of equilibrium.
Capping off her rave review, Margaret Gray of the Los Angeles Times commented, "There are no villains here, only complex, compassionately drawn, unforgettable people."
