Example Description with abbreviations and explanation:

I’m playing in a full-table game and a MLP (mid-late position) guy opens (raises). 2 folds, and the CO (Cutoff; one before the button) 3-bets (reraises). The button calls 3-cold, the SB (small blind folds), and the BB (big blind) calls. The flop (the first three community cards) is [Ts 7d 2h] (ten of spades, seven of diamonds, two of hearts), SB checks, MLP checks, and CO bets. SB c/r’s (check raises…the act of checking, and then after someone bets, raising), MLP folds, and CO calls. Turn (fourth community card) [9d] and SB bets, CO raises, SB calls. River (fifth community card) [Kd] and SB checks, CO bets, SB raises, CO calls. SB shows [Ad Td] for a flush and wins the pot.

UTG - under the gun; first to act preflop
UTG+1 - under the gun plus one; second to act preflop
EP - early position
MP - mid position
MLP - mid-late position
LP - late position
Hijack - one before the cutoff; two before the button
CO - Cutoff; one before the button
Button - the dealer; last to act
SB - small blind
BB - big blind
Preflop - When you are dealt your first two cards, and the ensuing betting action before a flop is dealt.
Flop - the first three community cards.
Turn - the fourth community card.
River - the fifth and last community card.
Check(ing) - When it is your turn to act, opting to not bet. This is sometimes done because you have a weak hand, and sometimes because you have a strong hand and want to hide its strength.
Aggressive - A style of play characterized by frequent raising and re-raising. This is not the same as “loose” play.
Passive - A style of play characterized by a lot of checking and calling. This is not the same as “tight” play.
Loose - Someone who plays a lot of hands.
Tight - Someone who folds most of their hands.
