My neighborhood association (Bluff Heights) puts on a special vintage fourth of July block party. On a street with tall trees and beautiful old homes there is a cake walk, patriotic pooch parade, water balloon toss, chili contest, cake decorating contest, music, dancing and more. It's an old tradition with a very modern twist. I host a vegan party within the larger block party.
Festivities begin at 12. It's better to show up early and not miss than come later. The water balloon contest will get you in the mood if you let it. ; )
I host a party within the larger block party. The larger block party is not vegan, of course, but my set up will have all vegan food. However, I know there are other vegans in my neighborhood because with the chili cook off there is at least one vegan option. Please bring a vegan fourth of july like dish to share...enough for 10 people...with utensils. If you want to drink you need to bring your own. Water is usually for sale. Also some dollar bills for tickets for the events. Also bring any chairs you might need or blanket although many have done just fine without bringing anything.
There will be others there that are not on this list.
To see pictures from years past please go to the Vintage Fourth folder. I hope to replace yesteryear's photos with new ones.
