Global Youth Service Day's PB&J Sandwich Making Event

This year we are taking part in the 2013 Global Youth Service Day and hosting our very own Peanut Butter Jelly Time Event.

Global Youth Service Day iis the world’s largest service event, and the only one dedicated to recognizing the contributions that young people make to their communities every day of the year.

Young people and their adult champions come together to serve and celebrate on Global Youth Service Day.

Our programs serve low income children and adults including homeless individuals and families in need of the most basic aspects of life: food, clothing and shelter. During our Peanut Butter Jelly Time Event, we will collect peanut butter, jelly, bread, sandwich bags and gloves and you are invited to assist us in making sandwiches which will then be donated to local food banks or shelters in the community to help feed the hungry.
If you have not joined us for one of our PB&J events, get ready to have some fun while giving back to the community. Everyone is welcome and the event is kid-friendly!

We will set up an "assembly" line. Each person will be able to choose to help with a station and together we will make thousands of sandwiches.

This was wonderful! ...even tho our crew of 3 (one friend fr.LA & another fr.OC) showed up relatively late 2pm, only to discover everything & event goals happily achieved. Major delight for us was meeting inspiring generous, big hearted spirit of Jonas (who we also endearingly call "little Buddha" for his cheery benificence) including his amazing team of extraordinary angels. There was a lot of love here, welcoming strangers like us become/make new friends. Thank-u for hosting/posting this, dedicating precious time to such a worthwhile activity. Best wishes for more continuing future success to all, cheers! :-D

Argh, I wanted to change my RSVP but I can't. I want to stop by even for a short time but, perfect timing - I am having allergies today. I don't want to blow my nose or sneeze all over the sandwiches! Hope to help next time.

So many volunteers came out today! We had a goal of 1000 sandwiches, but reached 1500 by 2 pm. We got more bread and jelly and finished over 150 more. We are all out of bread! Hope you can help next time!!!

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
