Feminism in Maryland!

Details: Maryland was recently found to be the best state to be a woman! But the Maryland chapter of the National Organization for Women (Maryland NOW) is always looked to make things even more amazing. By working to raise the minimum wage, eliminating discrimination against trans* people, and making sure that workers can take time off to care for their families. There are just a few of the legislative aims of the Maryland NOW in their progressive feminist path. You can learn more about them and how you can get involved at their website! MarylandNOW.org

Speaker Bio: Speaker Bio: Sara Wilkinson was elected President of Maryland NOW in May 2013. Sara is leading Maryland NOW around feminist issues such as reproductive justice and human rights, and is working to bring the chapter into the digital age. Sara hails from Minnesota, having moved to Baltimore in 2010 after completing law school at the University of Minnesota. She works for Maryland Legal Aid, where she represents low-income people, especially seniors, with civil legal problems. She grew up in a feminist household and attended Smith College, partly inspired by alumnae Betty Friedan (1942) and Gloria Steinem (1956). She is fluent in Spanish, loves to travel, is married, and has two cats and a Bernese Mountain Dog.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
