One final thought on the music list. I think it would be a great way to end the day by having all members up on stage and we play " The Weight" as the closing song.

Lastly Brian proposed this past Wednesday that we meet next Saturday (day before the show). It's a good idea. I canvassed everyone that night and all were willing. We will set a time this Wednesday to meet on Saturday. Everyone please be sure to have an extra $13.00 for Rob so he may go rent the PA system. .......... that's it I'm finished typing...whew!

"Hey Joe" will work as well. What is important for the last song I believe it needs to be 1)a memorable performance to the audience 2) a easy recognizable song with most of the lyrics committed to their memory 3) and a fairly straight forward song that allows all band members to participate.

Thanks for clarifying who should receive the money Rob.

Yes, Sweet Home for sure. I saw a few street musicians in Rome and jammed that song with them. The knew it. A good recognizable song. Obama sang it at the White House

The thought of not playing the whole show has been gnawing at me, so I've decided to change my plans a little. We will be pulling out of Nazareth early enough so that I can be there for the first set. I feel much better now, LOL.

Ed - here's a few songs that we can maybe use for the car show if we need to fill in the time: Sunshine of Your Love, Tush, Bad Moon Rising, Summertime Blues, Summertime (maybe?).

That's the idea behind having a "secondary" list. We should be relatively safe with the list we have now but it is best to have a song or two extra should the need arise. It presents our image much better to the audience to play something "new" instead one that was already played. The list Rob made will be perfect.

Hey guys, these songs are good fillers insofar that we've done them at least once. It seems Iike you guys have everything under control. Just remember that Sandy's making up the set list order. See you guys at the gig

    July 26, 2013

  • Edward E.

Yeah good suggestion Rob. Bayou could make a great filler song if we run short on music that day. Very flexible to tailor long or short play time.

While listening to you guys last night (BTW the few songs I got to hear were terrific) play Mustang Sally the Bb sounded correct to me. Theoretically speaking Bb is what makes the C7 chord so it would stand to reason as being the "logical" chord to go to from the C7 chord. Also the Bb slides in great to the G chord (minor 3rd) to lend the bluesy / rock sound and lastly the F chord looked at from a key signature stand point has one flat in it.....the B. So the Bb can be viewed as a key tonal center to the music which makes it noteworthy when one starts to improvise to be aware of the note. After saying all that, you still may have a point of it being another chord.

Ed - if I listen to the original Wilson Pickett recording, I hear the horn line doing that descending part but I hear the chords remaining as before.

I really like that c-b#-g thing on mustang Sally

    July 22, 2013

    • Rob M.

Yeah, I like it too but I don't think Bb is really the right chord. Been racking my brain trying to figure it out.

Not to change the subject, but does anyone know how to get rid of the duplicate meetups? There is already a meetup for this same time under the "Motown Mondays" name. I think it gets confusing for everyone involved.

As far as the songs go, maybe Ed can mention the songs that we should specifically be working on on Monday.

    July 20, 2013

    • Dave S.

I don't get duplicates over here, just one page with listings of each jam. I don't know what to tell you Rob and Cathy and I manage the main edits.

Hey Rob for practice as Jeff mentioned the list is our "road map" for our rehearsal. What we can do is go over the songs we are less proficient on and work on them more and quickly go over the music we are good on. One thing we need to get right for ALL the music is the beginnings and endings.

    July 20, 2013

  • Jeff R.

Brian, The list is posted on More>Files. Sandy is working on the order of which we'll do them. I won't be there, but I would hope that you guys start working on the songs that we either haven't done yet or are weak at. I'm sure we'll be real good.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
