LI-DOG 2014 Annual Meeting

It's been another great year for LI-DOG--a commitment from Nassau County Exec Ed Mangano to open Nassau County parks to on-leash dog walking, a new dog park in the Town of Brookhaven, and on-leash dog walking for the first time ever in Huntington Town parks! Come help us celebrate our continuing success and find out what plans we have for the coming year at the LI-DOG 2014 Annual Meeting. More LI-DOG Pack Walks? Yes! More on-leash walking in parks? Yes! More access to beaches? We're working on it :).

Plus, join fellow dog lovers as we acknowledge LI-DOG volunteers and organizers who helped make it happen--all while enjoying Eleanor Rigby's great food and drinks! We'll also elect our Board of Directors and answer any questions or talk about any ideas you have for making LI parks and beaches more dog-friendly. It should be a fun evening, so please join us!

I will not be joining you at the meeting. Bailey had an incident today which caused him to end up in the hospital. He jumped up on the table, grabbed a bottle of ibuprofen and chewed it open. (Between midnight and 6AM) Don't know if he ingested any of the pills, but he is now in the hospital for observation and precautionary procedures. Hopefully he will come home either tomorrow or Friday.

Awww, sounds like he's doing okay. Thanks goodness! Sorry we'll miss you tomorrow night.

Thanks, he came home on Friday, slept the whole day. He seems to be doing well, hasn't been eating much, but is alert and happy. Close call.

Is the dog parlay Eisenhower open? Couldn't find it the other day?

Yes the park is open. The only drivable entrance is located on Salisbury Drive where it intersects with Stewart Ave. 1675 Stewart Ave Westbury, I believe is the nearest Google address for GPS

I would like to join you all. Being new to this group, I will risk posing a possibly silly question - is this a dogs-free event? I just want to be sure. Looking forward to meeting you on the 27th:)

What parks in Huntington are now dog friendly?

In January, the Town Board approved four parks for on-leash dog walking--Dix Hills, Sunshine Acres, Frazer Park and the Jerome Ambro Trail. You can read more on our website at www.lidog.org. We're planning a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony next month to officially inaugurate the program. We're very excited.
