**WE ARE NOW OPEN TO NEW MEMBERS. PLEASE READ 'HOW TO JOIN' BELOW FOR MEMBERSHIP INFO**
We are a group of local Long Island photographers who meet in person once a month to develop and improve our portraiture photography knowledge and skills. Each meeting is an opportunity to work collaboratively on posing, lighting, composition, setup, exposure, as well as post processing techniques.
How To Join
We have raised the limit to the number of photographers we can have at our monthly portrait events from 30 to 40 and now have 2 openings - I'm sure these spots will fill quickly. Thus anyone who requests to join the group will be reviewed for immediate approval. If we reach our max membership the the wait could be a few days or a few months. As current members leave the group, new members will be accepted to take their spot.
Once approved, you will have three (3) days to review the group and RSVP for upcoming meetups or participate in the group's online activities. If you do not show any interest within the first week, your trial will be terminated and the next person in the waiting list will be approved. You're welcome to try us for up to 30 days before paying your dues (see below for more details).
Monthly Portrait Work-shoots
We have secured a great facility where we meet mostly on the first Tuesday of every month to work with with subjects/models and occasionally ancillary professionals such as makeup artists and hair stylists. In addition, in nicer weather we can schedule outdoor shoots.
Due to the facility rules all shooting is done on a TFP (Trade/Time for Pictures) basis which is strictly enforced for our benefit and to be fair to guest subjects, models and other professionals. Models and Photographers are expected to sign a non-commercial TFP agreement. All photography is "G rated". This is not the group for those interested in shooting nudes, boudoir, lingerie, pin-up, etc. - there are plenty of those elsewhere.
Membership (Photographers Only)
Membership to this group is limited to local Long Island photographers (We are based in Bethpage, New York) who are interested and committed to studying the craft and learning collaboratively in person on an ongoing basis. Join us and let's learn together while having fun doing it.
While we do welcome photographers of all skill levels, you should be familiar with your camera's manual settings.
Dues ($ 20.00/year)
Membership Dues are $20.00 per year and are due within the first 30 days of membership. This covers the costs of running the meetup group and investing in materials required during our events (Printing, Badges, Signs, Props, Photographic Equipment, etc...). Dues are non-refundable.
Partners and Sponsors
If you would like to sponsor a group event by providing meeting space, leading a workshop/lecture, or demonstrating new products or services, please contact the organizer.
