We are a group of photographers who meet to develop and improve our portraiture photography knowledge and skills. Each meeting is an opportunity to work collaboratively on posing, lighting, composition, setup, exposure, as well as post processing techniques.
Monthly Photo Shoots
We have secured a great facility where we meet on the first Tuesday of every month to work with with subjects and models as well ancillary professionals such as makeup artists, hair stylists and fashion/wardrobe professionals. In addition, in nicer weather we can schedule outdoor shoots. Due to the facility rules all shooting is done on a TFP/TFCD (Trade For Photos/CD) basis which is strictly enforced for our benefit and to be fair to guest subjects, models and other professionals. All photography is "G rated". This is not the group for those interested in shooting nudes, boudoir, lingerie, pin-up, etc. - there are plenty of those elsewhere.
Membership to this group is limited to local Long Island photographers who are interested and committed to studying the craft and learning collaboratively in person on an ongoing basis. Join us and let's learn together while having fun doing it. Photographers should be familiar how to set their camera's manual settings. Additionally, our equipment is known to work with modern Canon and Nikon DSLR cameras. Other brands may or may not experience issues.
Models, Makeup Artists, Hair Stylists, and Fashion professionals
Models, and ancillary professionals are invited to come down to participate in our portrait workshoots. If you're interested in modelling for us in exchange for portraits, or would like to take part in the creative process feel free to contact us at email@example.com
The Long Island Portrait Photography Workshop is asking its photographers to contribute $10.00/year to cover the costs of maintaining the Meetup site. Payments are due with in 45 days of joining the group.
We invite local photographers to participate in the discussions and come down to any of our events before making any monetary commitments during the first 45 days of their membership.
