NOFO it with us from dawn to dusk. Oh it may be a little early, bring a mitten or 2 but the crisp salt air and sweet fog that lingers over the vineyards and fallowed winter fields early in the morning is simply intoxicating and some say better than sex. Whether it be the Corchaugs, English Tories during the Revolutionary War, waves of Polish, German, Irish and Italian immigrants over the past 200- 300 years; they all in some way worked the local coastal waters and land to harvest fresh seafood as well as a variety of root crops, cauliflower, pumpkins, sod and most recently (in our short life time) wine and in doing so discovered a place filled with natural beauty and bounty.
Our route will start from Greenport Harbor heading out towards Pettys Bight, Poquatock and Orient Beach State Park. From there we will meander our way back to the precipice of Barnabas Horton’s Cliff Lot and lighthouse. We will return to Greenport Harbor via a slightly different route passing a variety of wineries that have taken hold. So bring a smile, a soul full of energy and gear it down mentally as we will be stopping on our whims to see and take in many of the scenic locations and enjoying the views the LI Sound has to offer, so remember…please plan on this being an all-day event.
