8th Annual DC Poetry in the Park at the Carter Barron

The DC Poetry Festival returns to Carter Barron this year in honor of the late, great Gil Scott-Heron.

This is one of our favorite events of the summer. Come join us as we experience talented wordsmiths and poets performing some of their favorite prose! Bring your family, especially the little ones so they can experience rhyme and reason from an artists’ perspective.

In the wake of his passing last year, the producer/host of this event, Charlotte Fox, spearheaded efforts to have Gil recognized with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Grammy's.

Greetings! A few last minute details about the event: Several other Meetup groups will be attending so I will arrive early to get seats and label them by group. By all means mix, mingle and sit anywhere, the labels are there as a landmark. Again, we’ll be on the left side of the stage. Rain in projected for the morning and early afternoon. I suggest you bring a small towel in case seats are still damp. If you have any questions or concerns feel free to call or text –[masked]

Here are some details for Saturday’s event: There will be Meetup signs posted on the left side of the stage toward the front. I’ll be there when the gates open or earlier if allowed. If anyone needs to reach me, please feel free to text or call me at 240.515.8646. Email at: [masked]. I will be checking my phone periodically to ensure I don’t miss anyone’s calls, texts, and emails. If you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to ask. I’ll see you all on Saturday.

You are welcome to bring snacks and non-alcoholic beverages into the Amphitheatre as long as they are in paper or plastic. ....No coolers, lawn chairs (you don't need them), and aluminum cans.
