Winter Hike/Snowshoe from Houghton's Pond to Buck Hill!

Join LL Bean Dedham for a winter hike of the Blue Hills’ Skyline Trail from Houghton’s Pond to Buck Hill! This vigorous hike provides a great workout that culminates with one of the best views in the Blue Hills on the summit of Buck Hill!

This is a moderately challenging hike up and down hilly terrain, and is a great practice hike for tackling some of the larger peaks up north! On a clear day, you can see the city of Boston, the Harbor Islands, and even Mount Monadnock (NH)!

Please dress accordingly for a winter hike. This includes dressing in layers (no cotton), wearing warm socks (made of merino wool, fleece, or other synthetic materials), hat, gloves or mitts, jacket, and waterproof boots/footwear.

Be sure to bring at least a liter (32 oz.) of water, and a couple of high energy snacks to have along the way, in particular on the summit of Buck Hill!

Please arrive 15 minutes before the starting time to ensure we start on time.

So I explored the Blue Hills this afternoon, and there is definitely a good amount of snow on the ground. So I'm thinking if everyone is comfortable with it, the best bet is to SNOWSHOE!! I have 3 EXTRA pairs of snowshoes for anyone who needs them, 2 women's sized and one pair of Men's (30 inch). The weather for tomorrow is looking GREAT, so it should be a good time! If anyone has any questions, feel free to drop me a line. Again, we'll meet at the HOUGHTON'S POND parking area off of HILLSIDE ST.

Hey folks! I'll be heading out on the trail this afternoon to check out the conditions. This is starting to look like it will actually be a winter hike!! I'll give you all an update later this evening, and look forward to getting out there tomorrow!
